Guidance
"This guideline covers a set of principles that can be used to help people change their behaviour. The aim is for practitioners to use these principles to encourage people to adopt a healthier lifestyle by, for example, stopping smoking, adopting a healthy diet and being more physically active."
"This guideline recommends a set of principles to use as the basis for: providing education and training for those delivering interventions; delivery of these activities, including one-to-one and community-based programmes and those aimed at specific populations and evaulation of their effectiveness and cost-effectiveness. The guidance highlights the need to: plan carefully interventions and programmes aimed at changing behaviour, taking into account the local and national context and working in partnership with recipients. Equip practitioners with the necessary competencies and skills to support behaviour change, using evidence-based tools. Evaluate all behaviour change interventions and programmes, either locally or as part of a larger project. Wherever possible, evaluation should include an economic component."
