Smoking prevalence is higher in those with mental health conditions and the decline of smoking in this group is at a much slower rate than in the general population. This is a group who are historically less likely to succeed in any quit attempt. Smoking cessation and harm reduction in this population is a key priority. This review aims to identify which tailored behavioural and pharmacotherapy interventions are most effective and cost effective, when compared with no intervention or usual care, at helping those with mental health conditions quit smoking or reduce their smoking.
